Building the platforms that enable great software.
Product Design and Platform Leader with 20+ years creating digital products and more than a decade building enterprise-scale design platforms. I specialize in designing the infrastructure that enables organizations to build better software - from component architecture and design tokens to governance, accessibility, and developer experience.
Today I lead the evolution of Polaris, Dexcom's enterprise design platform, defining product strategy, architecture, governance, and adoption across seven production products and four engineering codebases. My work enables 25+ designers and 100+ engineers through scalable design infrastructure, bi-weekly platform releases, and structured workflows that strengthen design-to-code practices while laying the foundation for future AI-assisted product development.
I thrive where product strategy, systems thinking, and technical execution intersect - building platforms that multiply the effectiveness of entire product organizations rather than individual features.
PLATFORM LEADERSHIP
Dexcom — Product Platform Lead (Official Title: Design Systems Manager) - Remote - Cedar Park, TX (January 2023 - Present)
Lead the strategy, architecture, and evolution of Polaris, Dexcom's enterprise design platform supporting web, iOS, and Android. Partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX, Accessibility, and Design leadership to deliver bi-weekly platform releases that improve consistency, accelerate delivery, and strengthen collaboration across seven production products.
Lead the long-term strategy and evolution of Polaris, transforming it into an enterprise platform supporting seven production products, four engineering codebases, and a bi-weekly release cadence across web, iOS, and Android.
Architected a scalable platform ecosystem comprising 2,000+ design variables and 60 reusable components, enabling 25+ designers and 100+ engineers to build from a shared source of truth while reducing multi-brand theming effort by 30-60%.
Scaled platform adoption to approximately 40% of the organization by introducing governance, contribution standards, documentation, onboarding programs, and office hours that enabled distributed product teams to adopt and contribute with confidence.
Established structured design infrastructure that strengthens design-to-code parity and provides a foundation for AI-assisted design, documentation, automation, and future engineering workflows.
Embedded accessibility directly into shared components, allowing approximately 85% of WCAG-related improvements to propagate automatically across downstream products while reducing repetitive remediation work and improving design quality.
Partner with executive stakeholders across Product, Engineering, UX Research, Accessibility, and Design to align platform investments with organizational priorities while mentoring designers and evolving platform maturity.
ENTERPRISE DESIGN PLATFORM EXPERIENCE
USAA — Senior Designer, Design System - Austin, TX (July 2018 - December 2022)
Helped establish a scalable native design platform that unified mobile experiences across multiple lines of business. Partnered with Product, Engineering, Accessibility, and Design leadership to create a reusable component ecosystem that improved delivery speed, consistency, accessibility quality, and engineering efficiency across the enterprise.
Designed and launched 60+ production-ready native components adopted across 50+ product teams, supporting 200+ designers, 80+ developers, and 10+ engineering teams.
Enabled downstream product teams to reduce time-to-market by approximately 40% by replacing custom UI development with reusable, production-ready components and standardized implementation guidance.
Contributed to a 90% reduction in UI inconsistencies and accessibility defects identified during design reviews by embedding best practices directly into reusable components.
Supported engineering efficiencies that reduced application footprint by approximately 20% and improved load performance by roughly 30% through shared component architecture and standardized implementation.
Led mobile UX research, interaction design, and usability evaluation efforts that informed the roadmap for the Native Design Language System.
General Motors — Senior UI/UX Designer - Austin, TX (March 2016 - July 2018)
Led UX strategy and interaction design for four internal manufacturing applications, including Visual Aid, supporting operators throughout the production process.
Translated complex manufacturing workflows into intuitive digital experiences that contributed to reducing production defects by more than 700 in a single month.
Established reusable UI standards and accessibility guidance while mentoring junior designers and promoting user-centered design practices.
Perk.com — Mobile UI/UX Interactive Designer - Austin, TX (June 2014 - November 2015)
Led product design for consumer mobile applications, including Perk Scratch & Win!, which surpassed 1M+ downloads and reached the Top 100 on both iOS and Google Play.
Partnered with Product Management and Engineering from concept through launch, owning interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and usability improvements.
Dell Technologies — Interactive Designer (Contract) - Round Rock, TX (November 2013 - July 2014)
